Type Faster Productions present Ladders By The Sea at the Shirley Burke Theatre in Melbourne from April 12th to 15th, 2012.
The play is a satiric comedy about the clash between a greedy trans-gender real-estate agent from the city and insular men caught in an old world Australia of the 1950s who do not want to move. Bert and Kev are only 40 and 36 respectively but live as if they're 90. They stay at home, drink beer, watch the neighbourhood and dislike change. Enter Barbara Malabar, who begins hassling the men for their properties. Things take a radical, backward and hilarious change when Bert gives Barbara something from his laboratory that makes things more traditional between a man and a woman.
Written by prolific Melbourne playwright, Kieran Carroll. Directed by Ron Hadley. Live music from John Kennedy and Peter Timmerman. Starring Valentino Arico, Matt Thomson and Stephanie Bursill. Set Design by Christina Logan-Bell.
