'The Missing Pages' is going to Sydney!

Our show has been selected to be part of ATYP’s Cameo Season. Australian Theatre for Young People is located on The Wharf next to Sydney Theatre Company and is the largest and oldest national youth theatre company. This amazing opportunity to present this work to a Sydney-based audience gives us the ability grow as national theatre makers and performers. See their website (www.atyp.com.au) for more information on the company and the show.

'The Missing Pages' debuted as part of the Something Like Theatre Festival with Griffith University’s Applied Theatre course in September 2013. Performed at Sean Young Creative Studios with a cast of seventeen, the original production was written and directed by Lainey Molloy and Bianca Zouppas.

This show has underdone a huge creative development, stripping the cast of seventeen down to just five! This redevelopment has allowed the creatives to form fully rounded characters, heighten the language of the piece, disposing of some scenes and breathing new life into this work, ready for a Sydney debut.

'The Missing Pages' welcomes a wide array of emerging young Brisbane-based talent: Katy Cotter, Chris Farrell, Brea Robertson, Reuben Witsenhuysen and Bianca Zouppas. Director Lainey Molloy (20) and our talented cast have delved into the old script and blown it up into a world that delicately balances the real life of Lewis Carroll and the magical Wonderland he created.

Lainey Molloy:
"As young theatre makers, this is a rare opportunity to expand our horizons and share our work with a new city. But, as we all know: with a new city comes new costs. The funds raised through this campaign will go towards flights and accommodation for our cast and creatives."

Ecila Productions are sincerely grateful for ANY contribution - no matter how big or small.

ABOUT THE MISSING PAGES...

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn’t” - Lewis Carroll

This is a world where chess pieces come to life. Where cards are painting the roses red and white rabbits in petticoats are running very late.

This is the world of the man who believed ‘as many as six impossible things before breakfast’.

However, Lewis Carroll may not be all that he seems. Pages have been torn from his diary and a section of his life remains forbidden. The Missing Pages provocatively imagines what might have been contained in the destroyed section of Carroll’s diary.

We hold up a looking glass to the real man behind Wonderland and delve into his mysterious infatuation with the young girl who would become the inspiration for his famous tale. Come and take a leap down the rabbit hole; you never know what you might find.

How The Funds Will Be Used

We are working on a minimum budget and need your help. As we said before, the funds will go towards flights and accommodation in Sydney. We have already covered the production costs such as set, costume and marketing. So your dollars will be providing us with a roof over our heads (THANK YOU!) and travel expenses.
Costs include:
- Accommodation: There will be a team of ten people staying in a unit in Darlinghurst for the week.
- Travel: Six of the team will be flying down from Sydney to Brisbane and another four will be driving so your money will be going towards return flights and petrol!

This is a huge stepping-stone for all of us and with your support we hope the show will continue to grow. You never know what lies ahead for The Missing Pages...
