THIS IS OUR NEXT PROGRAM
At the 2015 Australian Flute Festival we will present a program entitled 'TRIPLE F - Fellowship, Feminism and the Future'. This program explores the full spectrum of the flute sonority and showcases the work of women composers who are innovative, inspirational and adventurous.
THIS IS WHAT the POZIBLE CAMPAIGN IS FOR
This Pozible campaign is to raise money to commission Perth based musician, composer, songwriter, sound and performance artist, Cat Hope to write a piece for the NOW Flute Ensemble. As a classically trained flautist, improviser, experimental bassist and composer, we feel Cat will create a piece that will challenge and inspire us.
HER POCKETS FULL OF INERTIA
Cat will write a 5-7 minute work, 'her pockets full of inertia' which will receive its World Premiere performance at AFF 2015.
The piece will be for a group of alto, bass and sub contra bass flutes. Using a mobile graphic score, the work will explore the creation of a downward directed drone made of many unique threads, the strange similarity in nature of breath and am radio static, and the idea of 'envelope. These ideas unfold in way that relates to phrases of a poem of the same name by Claire Gaskin.
