Just Another Fish is a comedy written and directed by Lara Courtney. The story follows Hannah Green, who has unexpectedly been dumped. Her will to perform everyday tasks has ceased and all she does is eat and sob all day, while remembering her time with ex-boyfriend, Jake. With the help of her friend, Audrey, Hannah undergoes important life changes to help her move on from the break up and get back on her feet. However, at a friend’s housewarming, Hannah finds out the truth behind why Jake broke up with her, and it changes her life for the better. This film deals with themes that we can all relate to like love, rejection and self-reliance. Influences for Just Another Fish include the likes of Edgar Wright, New Girl and 30 Rock.

There are many aspects of the production which we, as students, cannot afford by ourselves. This is why we are asking for your help. With the funds, we'll be able to afford things like costumes/set design, travel expenses for the cast and crew, catering for all days of shooting and sound/post production expenses. We will also use this money to make your rewards. For the full breakdown of the budget, keep scrolling!

Hannah is the typical girl-next-door persona, who is very relatable to an audience who knows what it feels like to not get what they want. She is witty, caring and gives love as much as she receives it.
At the start of the story however, due to the break up, Hannah is very dependant, has self-esteem issues, and she is vulnerable. She is unwilling to try anything new and is very sarcastic so she can avoid caring too much. As circumstances change throughout the story, she is more open to the idea of enjoying life, as opposed to just existing in it.

Jake is a perception of the perfect boyfriend. He is caring, passionate and would spend a lot of time with Hannah. He dresses well, and takes care of himself. Jake is the motivation of change for Hannah, as she wants to prove to him that he made a mistake by dumping her.
Throughout the story, Jake is perceived as the ungrateful ex-boyfriend, the one that got away. He is in fact a scared individual trying to find his place in the world. Jake is the character that drives the whole story.

Audrey is Hannah’s best friend and room mate. She is a sporty person, who maintains a healthy lifestyle. She is self-reliant and independent. For Hannah, Audrey is the person she wishes she could be. The two play off of each other with their different views on the world and Audrey encourages Hannah to better herself for the sake of her wellbeing.

May Grehan
May Grehan is Hannah Green. I mean literally. She too has fallen for a gay or two and has meltdowns constantly. But don't worry because aside from inaccurately tuning her Gay-dar, she spends her days dreaming of a flourishing acting career and she is well on her way. She has already appeared in two TV Series (Old School, Deadly Women), a heap of Pro-Am musicals (Spring Awakening, Sweet Charity) and you may even recognise her mug from the Maccas Waffle Cone TVC back at the start of the year.
She's pathetically funny but most of all a loveable loser. Wait, which one am I talking about again?
