Emerging artists Laura Hague and Sarah Stafford are raising funds to pay for space to develop a quirky and unique work called Alopecia.
Obsession+Narcissism. Love+Defeat. Wig+Olivia.
The development for Alopecia: The Other Caucasian Chalk Circle as a contemporary absurdist and comedic theatrical production, will invite the audience into a bizarre world to witness the perplexing universe of a love triangle – of two extreme characters and their undying love and devotion for a wig named Olivia.
This work will investigate the humanity of the characters created on stage through an exploration of the idea of loving something/someone that can literally never love you back: the ultimate unrequited love. It aims to interrogate what we – as humans – would do for love; how it can consume us, how far we would go, and how it can bring out the best and worst in people. Accepting of the strange and absurd, it keeps the ideas of humanity and love as common ground.

How The Funds Will Be Used
We will be using the funds raised here to pay for one week of our residency at Metro Arts, which is around $500. Overall we will need a little over $1000 for two weeks development, but we want to keep this a reasonable and achievable goal of just $500.
Any additional funds raised over the figure of $500 will go directly towards the funding of the second week of development. Beyond this, the team will be funding the show themselves and will be using their own resources to create this exciting work.

The Challenges
Like most independent art projects, one biggest hurdle is money. The lack of funding for our work, particularly in the early stages of conceptual development, means that we will not have the time, space or resources to be able to devise the work.
This challenge however can be conquered! We are meeting it head-on and with the passion and enthusiasm of our creative team, and with your help, we know we can overcome it!
