This is a brand new cabaret to premiere at the Adelaide Fringe 2015 called "Mylie's Relationship Staus is Complicated: A Facebook Romance" at the Channel 9 Chapel of Love Comedy Club.

Facebook- love it or hate it.  Mylie loves it: Selfies, stalking and status updates! But can her real life relationship survive her being the third wheel to social media? Join her on her journey as she navigates the murky and hilarious waters of keeping connected and over-sharing.

This one hour show will look at how Facebook has changed the way we interact, the rules of communication and how we project ourselves to the outside world.  Using the typical, cliche, annoying, humourous and truthful, this show uses the stories we all hear about, the people we unfriend and the statuses we like to make you laugh at our overly-connected social lives.

How The Funds Will Be Used

This production will cost approximately $5,500 to put on.  Coming from the middle of Australia has it's challenges and some of the costs associated with coming to the Adelaide Fringe include:
- Travel and Accommodation
- Registration Fees for the Fringe
- Publicity fees such as posters, flyers, advertising
- Production costs such as a pianist, venue hire, costume, props, sheet music, photocopying
- Insurance

If successful, the money raised will help with some of the production costs of putting on a show.  I am aiming to raise $2,500 to cover the following specific costs:
- Venue Hire $600
- Pianist $500 approx
- Production Fees (including APRA rights, sheet music, photocopying, etc) $300
- Travel Expenses $500
- Publicity (including printing of posters and flyers, advertising with the Fringe in The Advertiser and on their website, etc) $400

The Challenges

There is a challenge in producing and creating your own work at the same time.  A one woman show essentially asks you to do multiple roles at the same time to ensure that it is creatively successful and financially viable.  Having produced my own show before, I am well aware of the obstacles that can arise from such a venture.  Having a background in arts administration will also help in seeking to resolve issues as they arise.
I have also appeared at the Adelaide Fringe before and I know how the festival runs and the challenge of being seen from all the other events going on.  There is a challenge in not being seen amongst the many shows on offer.  However, I understand that this is a risk every show takes when they enter the Fringe and that an effective marketing strategy can help you stand out. Working as a marketer and having been apart of the festival before gives me an edge to create a strong marketing campaign.  Given my show is about Facebook, this will form a big part of my marketing campaign.
