Little Green Corner

In a few short months Little Green Corner café will open and the long journey to turn this wonderful old building into a café will end. We have invested heavily to achieve our dream of bringing this site back from disrepair and every element of the design and cafe concept has considered our environmental footprint. The purpose of the crowd sourcing campaign brings this objective into sharp focus. 

We have received approval for solar panels but, alas, as we approach the end of the restoration of this site with the knowledge that we still have a way to go for the final fit-out for the cafe, we just don't have the funds available for purchase and installation. The idea is simple (and we hope, effective); to raise the necessary funds for the solar panels, we are hoping to sell bricks from this beautiful old site. So, by making a financial contribution, you'll receive an actual brick and an invite to our Crowd Sourcing Pre-Opening Launch (CS-POL... you know, if you're short on time !!), so you'll get to see the finished site before anyone else. 

These bricks have a special value to us; they represent a huge personal investment of energy and time taken to restore this old site, and as the building dates back to one of Geelong’s first (1850s and if you are into obscure facts, it was the first Geelong building to be connected to sewage!) and can be considered a piece of Victorian history.  Left unloved, the bricks will quickly weather away as they are hand made and flakey but taken and treasured, they can live on (think of the possibilities, a door stop to be en envy of your visitors, a bookend or a serious paperweight...).

We have considered whether to enter into a crowd sourcing campaign for some time; putting our story out there for people's judgement is daunting. Can we reach enough people who are prepared to support us? Is our objective worthy? Will our cafe 'story' strike a chord with our supporters?

Clearly, the answers to the above won't be known until the campaign's conclusion but the message is that preparation is the key and it's important to engage supporters early.
