Loophole Rent Party
Loophole is a collectively run, autonomous community centre in
Melbourne. It is a shared space where people can exchange
skills, resources and knowledge, and can find inspiration and
support as they develop ideas and projects.
Loophole runs on a not-for-profit basis. It is a space where we hope
people’s skills and interests can be appreciated and developed. Loophole provides a bike workshop, free lending library, craft space, performance and meeting spaces, as well as sharing space with Barricade anarchist bookstore. Loophole hosts a weekly radical parent's group as well as Food Not Bombs which provides a weekly free vegetarian meal for the community.
Everything at Loophole is provided by donation and by the support of
people who volunteer their energy and their time. Loophole has 4 resident caretakers whose rent goes towards paying the rent of the whole building, and we have a monthly bake stall and regular fundraising events to make up the difference. However, recently Loophole was asked by their Real Estate to increase the rent, which was contested, and an independent valuation sought which cost $650. Loophole struggles to pay the $2300 every month for rent, and this extra amount has broken the bank! Can you help Loophole pay the rent?
