Most obstacles in life can be dealt with by working hard and thinking creatively. Physical assaults can be overcome with martial arts training. Sadly, not having enough funds to reach your life goals often can't be addressed by either route.

After attending so many writing festivals that I've lost count, my dream has always been to be on the other side of that table - to be the one answering questions about writing and my own personal journey to becoming a writer, rather than the one seated in the audience asking the questions. And now, this dream is almost within reach!

I've been invited to participate in the Non-Fiction Now Writing Conference in Melbourne in November. I will be on a panel called 'At Home in The World: Immigrants and Expats.' I've been able to pay the reduced registration fee of $200 for attending writers, but I still need to cover the cost of the airfare to get to Melbourne and back. The cost of a ticket will be $524. I will stay with a friend, and can cover my day to day expenses by myself.

This is a rare opportunity for me to network with other writers and to meet publishers, agents and editors. Attending the conference will be a tremendous chance for me to find new sources of writing jobs and new markets for my articles. I will also be able to finally give back to audiences who are eager to hear writers talk about their craft, in payment for all those years of being the one to ask questions.

Please help me to realise my dream of attending the Non Fiction Now Writing Conference and to share my story with other aspiring writers.
