Lucy's China Adventure!
As a printmaker, this residency is a fantastic opportunity for me to experiment and explore ways in which I can combine my skills and passion for printmaking with pottery. Jingdezhen is a town built on rich Kaolin reserves and for hundreds of years it has dominated the world production of porcelain. At the Pottery Workshop I hope to learn as much as possible about this beautiful material, and spend my time making, printing, carving, throwing, stamping and casting (and I'm sure a whole lot more) non-stop until my return to Australia, with plans to continue after my return.
While the Helpmann Academy is generously funding a large portion of this residency, I am still in need of some assistance raising a little extra to help with the artist contribution and the cost of freighting the work & moulds I create while I'm there. Any amount donated is appreciated, and there are some great rewards up for grabs to give my thanks!
How The Funds Will Be Used
Other things the artists are expected to pay for during the residency include some meals, materials, tools, local travel costs, as well as travel insurance and vaccinations. These, along with the other half of my artist contribution, will be covered by myself.
Any pledge to help me get to China (and to get my work back to Australia) will be rewarded with a thank you email. I really do appreciate any amount donated.
For $30 or more you can choose to receive a hand written postcard sent from myself when I am in Jingdezhen.
For a pledge of $50 or more you can choose to receive a small gift all the way from China. For you, this will be a bit of a lucky dip, but I guarantee to search Jindezhen and find a thank you present selected specifically with you in mind!
For a pledge of $150 or more you can choose the reward of an original print. These are limited, and where possible will be hand delivered by me.
A pledge of $200 or more can choose to receive a piece of pottery made (by me) during the residency. These will be one offs, and there will (most likely) be a choice of design. Where possible I will hand deliver these - as soon as they arrive back in Australia!
