"The Woman Behind The Window" is a documentary exploring the personal lives of sex workers of the most popular and busy sex hub in the world: The Red Light District - Amsterdam, which gathers sex workers from all the nations of the world and caters for tourists and locals alike.
To many, she's just one of a range of beautiful women, of all nationalities, colours, types and sizes, on display in red windows, waiting for buyers, who will come too close yet stay ever so distant.
It's an unprecedented initiative to delve into the mind of the Woman in the window, to hear her story.. her thoughts.. her dreams.. her struggles.. and her pursuit of happiness.
Is she longing for real love? Does she have dreams of a traditional family and home? Is she sexually satisfied? How does having sex with her boyfriend (or husband) feel different than sex with a client? Does she get any pleasure out of it?
"The Woman Behind The Window" will bring to you something that is otherwise politically incorrect. Prostitution is a topic widely debated but always failing to focus on the WOMAN as an individual, with a lot of complexity and with emotional, psychological and existential needs.
It will also dive into the mind of our society, to see the point where sex and love became at two separate ends, where casual intimacy with strangers is used as a medicine for loneliness and hoping to answer deeper questions like: what is LOVE? how can sex bring us closer or further? how genders relate today? What are we all looking for? What can fill our loneliness? All through the very unique perspective of sex workers who experience intimacy with strangers and intimacy with loved ones and can tell us the differences between the two experiences.
Production: "The Woman Behind The Window" Is currently in pre-production. Production is scheduled to happen on the 1st and 2th of May, 2013 in Amsterdam's Red Light District. Gathering filmmakers from Australia and The United States.
