The Falling of Night
The next delicious production from Mondo di Corpo is coming soon to a retail store near you, and we need your help to make it happen.
Written and Performed by Marisa Garreffa, Cured is a blackly comic tale of a village called Night, told by a woman as she butchers away at a pig to make dinner for guests who never arrive. Part performance, part cooking demonstration, the woman tells the story of a girl who lies to the village about dying in order to feel loved. She gets caught… the village is not happy.
The performance begins as a window installation on the street frontage of Hay Street. Tucked amongst the shine of new buildings and polished glass, here you will see the rusting and rotting remnants of an age long past. Tools of the old style of butchery, wooden carving blocks, rusted machines and equipment and fading striped aprons. Shining against this butchers graveyard on gleaming stainless steel will be the bones of animals, in different styles of preservation. Together they are the ghosts of deaths long past. Peer through the windows any time of the day or night, but those lucky enough to secure a ticket will enter into the butchers playground to hear a story being told.
In order to present this evocative production in an empty shop front in the city, we need to rent in all the lighting, sound and seating to transform the site into a haunting space of performance. So we need to ask you for help!
But to make sure that you get more than just good karma back in return, we have a pile of things to give away. So choose your reward and choose to support the creation evocative and challenging arts in the city. We will love you for it!
