It's the last 24 hours of the campaign!  Thanks to the generous contributions of nearly 100 supporters, we have MET and exceeded our first Stretch Goal of $12,500! 

Any pledges in the next 24 hours will be used to design the expansion of our Literature Series and commence work on the second series of MET products.  Expanding our product offering will help us grow more quickly and make a positive impact in our community sooner.

We are Matthew, Jack and Amy, the inquisitve minds behind MET, a Melbourne-based social enterprise.  With backgrounds in law, finance and marketing, we get excited by statutes, spreadsheets and sales.  But we also love language, ideas and creative expression.  We think they make and keep us positively human.

Together, we are turning the page and venturing outside our normal roles as (not so) super important business people.  Why?  To create things that celebrate culture, to enrich our lives, and create a world of possibility for those in need.  Oh, and have lots of fun in the process!  Our story is only beginning we want you to write the next page.



MET stands for Metamorphosis, a single word that defines the heart and spirit of our social enterprise.  The primary purpose of our business is to create beautiful products that fashion change for some of the most marginalised members of our community. 




MET creates artfully designed fashion and accessories that celebrate language, ideas and all forms of creative expression.  This Pozible campaign is to launch our first series of products - the Literature Series!



The Literature Series consists of five T-shirts inspired by timeless literary classics.  Because it is our opening series, we are playing with some of our favourite famous opening lines!







MET T-shirts look great and feel great, but they are no ordinary fashion items.  By presenting each quote in an incomplete form, each MET T-shirt is uniquely designed to:

1.  Connect people that love language, ideas and creativity
2. Promote active engagement with classic novels
3.  Provoke a creative response to the design
4.  Inspire us to explore the world of literature

 






Our business and our profits are dedicated to raising literacy and numeracy standards to give all children the best start in life.  Why literacy and numeracy?  

Literacy and numeracy are fundamental to success in education and individual wellbeing.

Your MET T-shirt will empower some of the most disadvantaged among us to change their circumstances.

 
To achieve our social mission, we are partnering with the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation ("ALNF"), an Australian charitable foundation with significant expertise in this field.



The ALNF is dedicated to raising language, literacy and numeracy standards in Australia by developing innovative projects and implementing targeted, best-practice solutions at over 100 sites across the country. 


By adopting a "whole-of-community" approach and implementing powerful and cost-effective programs (including First language literacy programs), they have made a tangible difference in Indigenous and refugee communities across Australia.

The Challenges

Our immediate challenge is to grow and become commercially sustainable as soon as possible.  This will allow us to allocate our profits to fulfilling our social mission.  What is our plan?  A successful Pozible campaign will allow us to launch our online store, develop relationships with specialist retailers and engage in strategic marketing and advertising.  Our stretch goals are designed to accelerate our growth and cover strategic start-up costs.

A significant and ongoing challenge is a personal one: managing more-than-full-time jobs, establishing our professional careers and starting a social enterprise has stacked a LOT on to our plate.  Needless to say, there have been many hours of foregone sleep.  However, we are incredibly passionate about this project and our social mission and have managed to work alongside some truly talented and inspiring people along the way.  Beyond the campaign, we will be looking to grow the MET team to tackle the next chapter of our story.
