Welcome to The Hide!
The Hide is an interactive live-art installation that will premiere as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival, from September 26-October 14, 2012.
Created by three local Melbourne artists: Mattie Young, Joshua Lynzaat and Brienna Macnish, The Hide provides audiences with an opportunity to engage with a familiar public space in a new and intriguing way.
The Hide is a custom-built structure - a bird hide - made especially for people-watching in the Warren Bar, downstairs at the Fringe Hub. Audiences will enter The Hide to participate in and contribute to this immersive installation.
The Hide will
evolve over the duration of the festival into an archive or record of the
community who have drunk, talked, argued, fell in love and laughed over the
course of the previous three weeks.
The space inside The Hide will be filled with sketches, journal entries,
photographs, donated artifacts and observational surveys. Together they will
provide a record of a certain time, a certain group of people, and a certain
space.
The Hide will be a research hut, a space for fun, a sanctuary and an archive. Over the course of the festival it will grow and change as audiences come and go, making their mark and contributing to its story.
The Hide is part of Melbourne Fringe's Outside Eye Mentoring Program and the Tour Ready program. Visit www.hidemelbourne.wordpress.com for more information on the project and the artists.
How you can help!
We have launched this campaign to make The Hide the best it can be. The $1000 raised through Pozible will be broken down as follows:
-Materials (such as wood, carpet, consumables, etc) to build the structure.
-Decor (lamps, bark, etc) to make The Hide feel just right.
-Resources for the tasks inside The Hide (notebooks, binoculars, etc) to make the audience experience a very special one.
Your contribution will go directly towards creating this new work of art. Every little amount is helpful, so for whatever you can spare - small or large - we will be eternally grateful.
Remember: we only get funded if we reach our goal of $1000. So please spread the word and share this site with your families and friends.
Thank you!
Mattie, Brie and Josh.
