Thanks for taking the time to find out about this project and about me. I really appreciate it. I am Megan Bayliss, Cairns Festival 2011 Queen of Green, a Social Worker (community child protection) by profession, an entrepreneurial recycled craftist, a mum and a grand mum. I own and operate The Junk Wave (registered business with trademark pending), a collective model of home-based recycled craft businesses where every person I deal with is a partner in recycling junk before it goes to ocean and landfill for use instead as material for arts and crafts.

Not everyone can be an environmental warrior,
chasing down dolphin killers or trekking through Nepal to protect worms. But, many of us can save our seas and landfill from unnecessary trash build-up by making our trash clean and ready for kids, parents, early educators and artists to use in their everyday use of crafty "stuff."

Not everyone has the money to build a business. I do not - but I have the time, the space, the passion and the global vision. Just like other start-ups and eco-preneurs I have that age-old cash flow crisis: have to keep doing what I am doing to keep the wolves away (and because I love it) but need to grow to produce greater sustainable outcomes at the social, environmental and financial check points.

While I am doing what I have to do to keep the business operating, I find myself time and cash flow deficit to create growth and to bring the global vision to light. I work in the corner of keeping on keeping on and I have no savings left to fall back on to fund growth.

Through intentional teaching and teachable moments, we spread our recycling passion to protect oceans and landfill from toxic household waste so that tomorrows children can experience a healthy and safe, animal rich, environment.

We do this through

• recycled craft workshops with adults and children,
• recycled craft “how to” bags,
  
• selling supported home based business chapters of The Junk Wave across the globe and
  
• generating ideas when we talk with people like you.

Our difference is that we make the individual powerful and responsible in sustainable waste management by helping them turn their household waste to craft treasure.
