I’m releasing a brand new single and would love you to be a part of the journey!

My name is Mel. I am a Folk Songwriter/Multi-Instrumentalist (one woman band) hailing from the hills of Jeeralang Victoria and currently living in Melbourne. I have a passion for music, nature, life, animals, art and travel, which is reflected in my writing.

I’m releasing my new single “Northern Rivers Sun” and would love you to get involved in my project and share the journey of creating music. You can gain a pre-release download of the single and receive exclusive offers such as signed CDs, house concerts, trumpet lessons and more! By making a pledge you will be contributing to the final studio, mastering, artwork, pressing, and distribution costs. When you pledge you will be helping to save Australia’s beaches and waves as 100% of any funding exceeding my goal will be donated to Surfrider Foundation Australia. When the campaign has reached its goal I will pre-release the single for digital download and start arranging and sending out all of the exclusives and incentives. Every single Pledger gets my single download before the release date. All CD artwork will be printed on 100% recycled material.

About the song…

During December 2013 I made my annual road trip to Byron Bay NSW, which has been like a second home to me since 2004. I still remember the first time I visited Byron. From the moment I arrived it was like my heart and soul came alive in a way I had never felt before. From this moment I knew that it would hold a special place in my heart for the rest of my life. “Northern Rivers Sun” is about the Northern Rivers Region of NSW, including Byron Bay, Mullumbimby, Uki and Nimbin. I wrote the song after climbing 4 hours in the early hours of the morning to the peak of Mount Warning to watch the sunrise over the Hinterland, which was a magical, spiritual experience I will never forget. I developed the song further when I arrived back at my Mongolian Yurt at the base of the mountain. Marty Stringer on Bass and Steph Gilfedder on percussion will join me in the studio to record Northern Rivers Sun, as well as having my normal “one woman band” setup (vocals, guitar, loops, stomp drum, trumpet and native flute).

100% of funds made after I have reached my goal will go to Surfrider Foundation Australia, a not for profit sea-roots organisation dedicated to the protection of Australia’s waves and beaches through Conservation, Activism, Research and Education (CARE). Surfrider Foundation do amazing work protecting Australia’s beaches and endangered waves from the many threats facing them such as; coastal developments, overcrowding, water pollution, plastic products and climate change.

There are things I can control about this journey. Producing a quality recording, producing the cd within my timeline and making my pledgers happy.
Some things can't be controlled... such as how many people get involved in my journey and make a pledge.
But rest assured I will be working extremely hard, performing as much as I possibly can, getting the word out about my new release and pozible campaign, rehearsing and making sure this recording is one to be remembered!
