The famous Australian poem by Banjo Patterson 'Mulga Bill's Bicycle' captured the spirit of 'The Golden Age of the Bicycle' in Australia. Though it was extremely well received and the subject of multiple publishings and humorous recitations in local halls and centres around the turn of the 20th century, it has never been made into film. We think it's about time it was.
Historians agree that unlike some popular representations in children's books which show him riding a Penny Farthing, Mulga Bill would have ridden the earliest form of the bike we ride today the 'safety bike'.
At this time in history the interest in all things cycling is growing at a rapid pace. We have entered the next 'golden age' of cycling. It is in the spirit of this new age that we would like to share this unique piece of cycling literature with the world and put history right.
Our film will capture the excitement and novelty of those early days of the modern bicycle bringing thrilling visualisations to this outstanding work of cycling literature.
