MILLY JAMES

My name is Milly James, and I am a musician, dancer, and actor. I also love to write.
One day whilst waiting around on set as an extra, a fellow actor and I discussed the idea of writing short film scripts that we would also act in and direct, and that is how Beautiful Distortion came about.

Beautiful Distortion is primarily a romantic story about a brief encounter, the impact of a stranger, and how that stranger can alter one’s destiny, even in a very small way.
Winsome may never have summoned the courage to radically alter her life were it not for her meeting with Lewis.



I have quite an unremitting obsession for writing about human encounter, or connection, and how we impact one another on the course of our journeys. It is a story that all of us can relate to, and is beautifully captured in the cinematography of Lewis Potts. The lead characters of Winsome and Lewis are delightfully portrayed by Lizzy Simes, and Jack Walker.

The film is tremendously important to me as it is my first!!!! I undoubtedly wish to see it succeed. I have also received an immense amount of support and encouragement from my very experienced crew, and all those involved in the project, who believed in it from its conception.

I have been fortunate enough to receive some funding from The Film and Television Institute of Western Australia, and The City of Vincent. So we have done our shooting and our film is in the can. However... As some of you may know making a short film can cost as much as a wedding! We do need additional funds and this is where your pledges will help.

FIRSTLY - We require additional funds for Post Production - -
We still need to cover the costs of Sound design, and Grading, to make our film look and sound as professional as possible.

SECONDLY - There are a number of people who have given tremendous amounts of time to the film in their designated roles, working tirelessly, without grumbling or complaining, and seeing the job through. This includes our wonderful cast of actors. These people have not been paid! They are true artists, commit to a project for the love of it regardless of payment! THEY DESERVE TO BE PAID!!!

THIRDLY - I'm not about to make this film and allow it to gather dust in a box under my bed! I've made a film!! I'm excited!!!
We need additional funds for marketing and promotion, in particular festival fees.
