What is our film about?

ePrivileged, clueless and compliant, these are the three words that best describe Jules.

Governed by The Hair Relations Party, Jules lives in a world where those who date or interact with others, with a different hair colour from their own, are punished. Possessing a hair colour that is favoured in this world, Jules does not understand the struggles of those who are scrutinised by this absurd law that governs their everyday life. However, when she finds out that her best friend Reid is from a mixed hair family, who’ve been secretly dying their hair to fit in, she begins to understand the severity of enforcing the The Hair Relations Act. The question is, will she leave what she knows all behind or will she risk the safety of her only friend?

The Minds behind the Masterpiece:

Laura Him- Director

Hair Colour: Brunette

A young quirky director, Laura is one to jump at any creative challenge at hand. At times a bit too much and as such, her head of departments usually have to reel her back in. However, coming from a background of photography, she has a strong and ardent passion for visual storytelling. In frankness, she is ready to tackle the world of Miscolour and bring this romantic drama to life.

Angela Basile- Director of Photography

Hair Colour: Brunette

Angela is a keen cinematographer and writer who has a slight obsession with cameras. She has shot short films, documentaries, commercials, sporting games and other events. She was even lucky enough to shoot a 16mm short film (‘Fade’), which she may have a slight bias towards being her favourite due to her belief that film is not dead. She is excited to work with the rest of the crew to create the picturesque and uncanny visual style of this world.

Fitri Amirrol- Editor

Hair Colour: Brunette

With an unwavering passion for editing, and a keenness for amalgamating things that typically do not go together, Fitri plans to inject his own sense of peculiarity into the abnormal world of Miscolour. As firm believer that love, above all, wins, he hopes to relay the narrative of this short film to audiences in the best way possible.

Brenna Todd- Editor

Hair Colour: Brunette

As a storyteller of mixed race background of many hair colours and lover of dystopian fiction, Brenna is excited to explore the construction of the edit of a film that aims to take a new creative approach to acceptance and overcoming prejudice while exploring the human emotion and connections dystopia can bring forth between our protagonist Jules and those she holds dear.

Matthew Mitchell- Sound/Co-Producer

Hair Colour: Brunette

In charge of both the logistics and sound design of our world. Matthew’s a big fan of science fiction worlds such as Bladerunner, Halo, Star Wars and many others. He’s channeling that passion to creating a world and story he would fall in love with as a viewer.

Callaghan Foley- Production Designer

Hair Colour: Brunette

With a flair for the creative, this young production designer knows how to dress himself as well as a set. Taking on the challenge to create this dystopian world for all the viewers, Callaghan has a drive to reach the final product and make it look as good as possible. This super organised Scout is willing to take on any opportunity to show the world his creative talent whilst past projects his focus has been on producing.

Ashleigh Huggins- Co-Producer

Hair Colour: Brunette

Taking on the challenge of keeping the whole team in line and to schedule, Ashleigh is excited to bring the alternate reality to life and create a meaningful discussion in today’s society. Primarily dabbling in Documentaries this fictional film will challenge her enough to inspire dedication and an amazing end result.

How the Funds will be used:

Our first round of fundraising really helped go towards all the on set necessities to obtain the footage of this incredible film. Now we need your help to fund a colour grader as well as marketing related costs including festival entries! We hope to make it into several festivals with your help.

The Challenges:

Miscolour is a film that acts as a call to action and brings forth more conversation in society. In order to enhance this conversation we need to be able to create a believable world to form the story. But we currently don’t have the ability to build whole new worlds inside a studio and so with your help we will be able to tweak the world we live in to enhance your experience in the cinema.
