Moongaze Debut EP
"Hey, great songs! Do you have a CD?" - sweet audience member at the National Folk Festival blackboard stage
"We love your music! Are you on Spotify?" - delightful couple who overheard our jam camping in the forests of Lutruwita
Hello friends and strangers! We are Moongaze - a multi-instrumentalist queer political folk duo formed in the red desert sands of Arrernte Country, Mparntwe/Alice Springs.
We sing for land back, trans rights, climate action and queer love. And we play a lot of instruments: guitar, violin, double bass, banjo, and the humble egg shaker to name but a few!
In 2025 we embarked on two ambitious missions: to tour the continent in a second-hand electric car, and to record our debut EP - a four-track project combining calls for climate and social justice with celebrations of queer and trans joy.
Our tour is going great. We've played all over the continent: from chilly Hobart backyards to campfire bangers in the Flinders Ranges. Everywhere we go, we make new friends and special connections, many of whom have kindly asked how they might listen to our music somewhere on the internet. So, it's finally time to knuckle down and put the songs we've worked so hard on into some form of distributable permanency... aka an EP!!!
We are absolutely stoked to be working with Mparntwe-based recording engineer Jez Conlon of Left of Elephant Sound for this project. The recording process is COMPLETE (hooray!) and we are now moving on to mixing and mastering. This is where we ask you, our wonderful community, if you would like to chip in - in return for your own copy of the finished product of course! All money raised will go directly towards the EP. If we raise anything above our set total (combining mixing + mastering), it will help to offset our recording, CD creation, merch-making, and printing costs.
If you've been to our gigs, followed us on socials, or even just read this far: thank you so much for supporting our little band. Any contribution or share is deeply appreciated!
Love,
Moongaze
