The Film
Remember in the 80’s when it was common for music video’s to be more like short films rather than advertisements? Do you remember Pat Benetar screaming ‘we are strong!’ at her controlling father? This is the spirit that sparked the ADDISON ROCKERFELLER web-series.
ADDISON ROCKERFELLER uses the art of storytelling that narrative music video’s employed (mixed with the beautiful creativity that filmmakers are allowed in music videos), yet applies it to a conventional ongoing narrative, where people speak in song lyrics rather than sing them.It is this disposable nature of the entertainment industry, and its pressure on title character ROCK that manifests itself in the visual and actual representation of his world.
At the heart of the central character is simply a man at odds with how he fits in to this world. He is conflicted with his own inner anxiety of being a part of the entertainment industry whilst still wanting to be a down-to-earth, “normal” individual.
Progressively, he suffers through everyday hurdles found in any romantic melodrama, yet this overlying pressure found in being a manifestation of the media industry shadows it, and is represented by the physical representation of the world around him.
Style
ADDISON ROCKERFELLER will be presented in a fictitious music-video world. Throughout the episodes, ROCK will navigate his way through various incarnations of music video inspired surroundings that will be constantly changing.
To this effect we will be using many popular music-video inspired conventions (whilst still adding our own twist to them), as well as showcasing our own unique creative experiments in visual style, because this is what has made the music video genre so exciting.
The visual nature of ROCK’S world is a representation of his emotional state, and therefore will reflect his emotional state at the time.
ScreenWest 3to1 Initiative
As part of this funding initiative we are aiming to raise $10 000 dollars and have ScreenWest match us $3 to every $1 we raise. This means that if we’re successful we will have $40 000 to make our six part web-series.
The only way for us to receive the full $40 000 is to raise our $10 000 before the ScreenWest funds run out.
The $40 000 will go toward making a six part series with some of the best music, cast and crew Perth has to offer.
If we raise the money too late, don’t think for a second that we’d let you down, with your $10 000 we will make the pilot of the series ‘Rock’.
If we don’t reach our $10 000 target, we get nothing and all pledges will we cancelled.
