ABOUT THE PROJECT

TINY EARTHQUAKES explores a young woman’s grief a decade after the mysterious disappearance of her younger brother as a child. 

Traveling back and forth in time through a stream-of-consciousness narrative, we become intertwined in her past, present, and dream-like states as we delve headfirst into the slippery, episodic, contradictory, strange, tender and difficult nature of coming to terms with the loss of a loved one.

This short film is a jigsaw puzzle of a narrative that considers visual storytelling, intricate sound design, observed gestures and subtle unspoken gestures that are somehow beyond words.

Featuring a vividly cinematic soundtrack by Melbourne band THE TOWNHOUSES and starring young talent ELLIE  GANGITANO, and ELOISE RAITS, TINY EARTHQUAKES is an exploratory piece of cinema rather than a film that claims to know all the answers.

PROGRESS

The film will go into production JUNE 2011, and the pre-production stage is well underway.  We are hoping to take this project beyond our last year at University and enter it into the national film festival circuit throughout 2012.

WHAT WILL THE MONEY GO TOWARDS?

TINY EARTHQUAKES is intended as a not-for-profit venture.  All crew involved are volunteers who came to the project based on their interest in the unique script and the passion to make it a reality, through hard work and precious time spent. All money would go towards making this film the best possible one it can be, with funds going towards:

-       Gear hire

-       Props/set dressing

-       Post-production
