FLAP SNAPS: An A4 Wall Calendar
Last year I made a Pozible campaign to fund the making of 12 new Picus Dickus images. (A calendar of 12 images of penises with props and puns. See picusdickus.com if you haven't already.)
It was successful.
Over the past year I have watched a lot of people laugh while looking at the calendar I made.
I absolutely love bringing people joy and this is my motivation for doing it all again.
I am not sure where this project is going, but I want to keep making the images that people enjoy so much.
HOW THIS ALL ORIGINALLY BEGAN:
Amy, Rona, Ana and I were having ice cream in Newtown on a Thursday night after dancing. Naturally, we ended up chatting about dick pics. Together we thought that it would be fantastic of someone made dick pics people would actually enjoy recieving. As in, if you are sending us a picture, show us you are fun, innovative and playful. But. Also. Do show us your junk.
I had a moment when I realised "I know life models from holding life drawing. I could actually make this happen. I could make these dick pics."
Amy thought this was hilarious and asked me to make it happen.
I funded and made 6 original pictures myself, then 12 new pictures through last year's calendar Pozible campaign.
Over the past year since making the Picus Dickus calendar I have had many many people request a calendar featuring ladies.
Who am I to refuse The People?
How The Funds Will Be Used
The Costs Are:
Models:
I've had 10 women volunteer to model if paid the recommended Sydney Life Modelling Society $30AUD an hour.
Each picture takes about half an hour to make.
Props:
As an illustrator who has also done body painting I have really enjoyed the challenge of trying to make all the photographs with found objects and props. I feel like this makes it harder for me, but also for funner images.
Some of the things I have found on my dick pic adventures include the horse for the unicorn picture. And yes. I cut a hole in the side of it's face for that picture.
I didn't estimate the prop cost well last year at all. Each picture averaged at $15 for props.
Calendar Printing:
I have found a much better printing company this year which does higher quality calendars for cheaper, so the price of the calendars will be lower, but I need to buy them in a bigger quantity for their minimum, so the amount I need to raise this year is similar to last year.
When Your Calendar Will Be Ready:
Your calendar will arrive on your doorstep before the 1st December, ready for you to gift to yourself, your friends and your family.
I am doing this calendar way in advance compared to last year as organising 12 different shoots is going to take much more time.
The Challenges
What are the risks and challenges of this project?
Mainly risking loss of any respect and dignity I didn't lose last year.
DONATION
For those who can't afford or hang a calendar, this option is for you if you would like to contribute to bringing this project to life. Increase the quantity for as much as you would like to donate. I will also send you a small surprise thank you present in the mail.
