We have been offered the opportunity to play at the Festival International Percussions de Longueuil in Canada in July in their 2013 Festival themed Oceania. 200000 people came through the gates in last year's festival and these performances represent a significant opportunity to expand the group's profile in North America, and help us to maintain our status as self-funded musicians. (www.percussions.ca) We'll be playing a whole bunch of performances at this festival and several other venues in the Quebec region.

However, further to this opportunity we have received an offer from Cirque du Soleil's CEO Mr Daniel Lamarre to meet with a Cirque Artistic Director in their Montreal base to explore potential collaboration on a future project. In 16 years of some pretty amazing experiences, this represents a once-in-a-career opportunity for our little group in Perth. Obviously offers like this are not a regular occurrence!

For those who don't live in Perth (the most isolated capital city on Earth) Quebec, Canada, is literally on the opposite side of the world at 18298 km (11436 miles). So this is a significant challenge to tour a percussion group!

We're asking for your help to fund the costs of this tour so that we can focus our financial and creative efforts on creating a kick-ass pitch for the Cirque folks, and on delivering amazing performances at the festival. We are receiving fees for playing the festival, but the travel requirements (and distance) for a group like ours ensure that there is no way the fees will cover the costs of getting there

Whilst $6500 represents a minimum amount to make the tour possible, anything extra will go a long way to ensuring we are able to deliver more powerfully on every front.  As you can see from the budget, this is an expensive project. To be blunt, it would be nice to have costs covered so that the performance fees could go to the performers for performing! Tetrafide always has been self-funded and employ no administration staff, so your money goes directly to artists who have been making a go of it for more than 16 years.

We will be keeping a regular diary of what we're up to and how everything's going. Who knows, maybe one day you'll be sitting in a Cirque show and be able to say "I had a part in making this possible". We sure hope so.

Budget:
The Festival International de Percussions de Longueuil will be covering all ground transport, accommodation and meals etc. for the duration of the festival, as well as providing virtually all of our instrument requirements for performances.  Materials costs are an estimate only and at this stage we intend to meet all extra costs required ourselves.
If we go way over target, we will be able to use the performance fees from the festival for what they were intended- to pay the musicians (us!) for doing our job. This would be a radically exciting prospect to us and our families! :-)

Materials for pitch, including documentation and preparation/rehearsal $2500
= $17000 before the players can get paid.
