Hello, My name is Nicki Camac and I am from Adelaide, South Australia. I would like to tell you about my friend, Andy Hensel, who is 23 years old from Moonta Bay, South Australia.

Andy was on his way to becoming a professional freestyle motocross rider until he came off his bike on 29 June 2012 on a jump at the FMX Championships. Andy broke his back at the T5 and T6 vertebra and suffered spinal cord damage. This has left Andy a paraplegic and is now wheel chair bound. As you can imagine Andy's life has been changed forever. He is a beautiful soul who would help anybody in need but now he needs the help of others.

Andy is working very hard everyday in self rehabilitation and gym work to get his body in optimum shape, gain as much strength as possible to aid in his recovery and his ultimate dream of walking again.

Andy's only chance of reaching this dream is a program in the USA called Project Walk. Project Walk - Spinal Cord Injury Recovery Center is the world leader in spinal cord injury (SCI) recovery. It provides an improved quality of life for people with spinal cord injuries through intense activity-based recovery programs, education, training, research and development.

Andy would need $50,000 to cover the costs of the trip including his and his fathers air fairs, four months of rehab at $120.00 per hour and standard living costs for the four months. Today I ask for your help to raise $20,000 to put towards his dream and help Andy stand and walk away from his chair.

The Challenges

The one obstacle that I can see is purely not raising enough money to get Andy to the USA to take part in the Project Walk Program. This is a huge obstacle but I truly believe that we can achieve this goal and get Andy his dream.

Andy is very down to earth and realizes that life is not easy and we don't always get dealt the 'good hand '. He knows that we may not achieve the full amount of $50,000 straight away but is willing to work hard for it and has faith that it will happen. He feels fundraising it worth a 'damn good go' and will be truly grateful for any kind donations to put towards the overall fund.

A huge shout out and thank you on Andy's Fundraising Facebook page with over 1400 followers.
