"Tryptophan" tells the tale of Jake, a young man with an all consuming addiction ... chocolate! He wrestles to stay clean after an intervention orchestrated by his friends and long-suffering girlfriend. However, the temptations of his decadent chocolate dealer and the ongoing withdrawal-fuelled pangs of chocolate longing drive him to a sticky point of no return: is it to be love, or chocolate?
This sexy and witty comedy about love, chocolate and relationships was written by Keren Schlink and directed by Augustin Lobet. It is one of six short films created by the Masters students of the WA Screen Academy at Edith Cowan University and features the outstanding talents of final year actors from The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). Filmed with the support of professional mentors, the Masters of Screen Studies programme provides students with industry-level skills.
"Tryptophan" completed filming in May and is now in post-production preparing for a gala screening of this year's six films in September, 2015. From there, we will begin to enter it into film festivals worldwide. Our plan is to create as much exposure as possible as we launch into our film careers.
The aim of this crowdfunding is to raise funds to support our strategy on which festivals we enter the films in worldwide. Film festivals vary in their entry fees as does their 'visibility' on the world circuit. Having the funds to apply for entry to a few of the more high-end festivals is a terrific bonus.
Originally the plan had been to crowd fund for just our film "Tryptophan", but on reflection it didn't feel quite right. We're lucky to be part of a great team of people, who've all worked on each other's films and continue to work on each other's projects as the year progresses. So we've decided to split the Pozible funds between all six films currently in post production and give us all a boost. Here they are!
