WE REACHED OUR INITIAL TARGET! Thanks to all who have supported thus far, we are overwhelmed by your generosity.
$3000 was really the minimum to get this show up so now that we're here and have 20-odd days to go, we're setting a NEW target of $5000.
The extra cash means we can build a bigger, better intergalactic world and feed our artists while they generously donate their time to rehearse and make this show the best it can be.
So keep pledging and reach out to your networks to get others on board. When we reach $5000 ALL of our supporters will go into a draw to win an exclusive Voyager package including a double pass to our opening night and post-show function Sat 1 Sept 8pm, a bottle of wine, a copy of the Golden Voyager Record and more!
Pale Blue Dot at Malthouse Theatre
From the team behind Yes, Five Kinds of Silence and Manbeth, OpticNerve Performance Group will, again, intrigue Melbourne audiences with their iconic and visceral performance style in Pale Blue Dot as part of the 2012 Helium Program of independent works at the Malthouse Theatre.
Unfunded and ambitious, we entreat your generosity to make this show come to life. $3000 buys our set, costumes, rehearsal space, and marketing collateral for our new show Pale Blue Dot. By donating, you are directly contributing to the making of this production. We are a company built on ensemble principles and the vitality of collaboration. In the act of donating, you too join in this spirit of creativity. This project will not be possible without your kind support.
PALE BLUE DOT
by OpticNerve Performance Group
1 September — 15 September
Tower, Malthouse Theatre, Melbourne
The universe expanding in your stomach; all that you contain, from the moment of creation, recorded in the atoms gifted to you by the burst of a star.
In 1977, the Voyager spacecraft sent a time capsule into outer space. Carefully composed golden phonograph records containing images, sounds, music and diagrams were launched into the atmosphere – a calling card to extra-terrestrial life – a shiny ‘message in a bottle’ from our planet – the pale blue dot.
Exploring the lenses through which we experience and view humanity: Who do we frame? What do we exclude? And what was on the B-side of the record? Pale Blue Dot interweaves the stories of several figures connected by brief moments in time and subtle links in space.
“You’ll be hearing about OpticNerve for months and I hope years to come. The company reminds us theatre is not just words spoken, but words made flesh.” – Herald Sun
