Upper Limb Animation System

Design of an upper limb animation system that can seamlessly track and record details of the limb movement through the use of sensors and connectivity. This research study is to improve on the already available motion tracking system through the use of sensors of the human upper limb system for rehabilitating patients This gives patients the opportunity to gauge their rehab progress while having another system which would help them further visualize, understand and compare their progress through the use of a robotize prosthetic arm which replicates the every exact movement of the limb through the use of sensors.

How The Funds Will Be Used

The purpose of this crowd funding campaign is to fund one of my senior's final year project as to give him a financial support. For this project, an approximate budget of RM 1500 is allocated for the components needed. However, we are only have to obtain funds of RM 1000 for his project. The funds that were pledged in supporting this crowd funding campaign, will be used for the project and also used for all the rewards selected. We are here to thank you and we really appreciate your help.

The Challenges

Programming, Coding and User Interface Software

For the entire project Arduino’s default software would be chosen as a coding platform to run the specific sensors to give out their measurement readings for the tracking of the upper limb.

The Arduino default software is an open source type whereby it is able to run various types of coding be it C++, PHP or Java Script. This ability of being flexible makes it easy for the user coming from different coding background thus making the Arduino software a user friendly platform to code and read out the necessary data or measurements of external sensors (Arduino,2015).

This is one of the challenges. But, since a tutorial was taught previously on how to connect external sensors with the Arduino microcontroller, assembling and obtaining the desired data should not be a tedious process. Also, the Arduino setup is able to give out digital readings of the data obtained(Arduino,2015). This prevents the user from multitasking from using multiple different softwares to obtain their measured readings and to code.
