*Project Update* Hi pretties! You may have noticed my project has already achieved the target of $4000 in pledges that I was aiming for. Hooray and thank you! Its starting to sink in that the target was achieved in 6 days! I'm humbled by this experience and truly appreciate your support for my products, this project and of course, helping me to 'Turn the lights on'! I allowed 30 days for the project to reach its target, so now, rather than sit around watching clay dry (don't laugh cause it does have to be done sometimes), I've decided to aim for $10,000 in pledges by the project deadline. The extra funds will allow me to source and secure a 2nd hand large kiln. New is nice but not always an option. Also, I'll be looking to build a spray booth so I can glaze like a pro! And then - the sky is the limit, as they say! Once again thank-you, thank-you, thank-you to all of you who helped to realise my goal in such style. Patricia Fernandes – Turn all the lights on!

Hi, I’m Patricia, a ceramicist from Western Australia who designs and creates porcelain jewellery and functional dinnerware that is practical to use and also damn pretty! I like long walks on the beach and..wait wrong profile..

I run my self-named design label whilst working full time during the day (yes, I’m a life-multi-tasker but someone has to pay the bills) and have spent the last 5 years creating and releasing different jewellery lines. In the last year, I released my dinnerware collection named, ‘Functionality’.



I use exotic 100 year old Indian wood block prints that have been discarded by the Indian textile industry and combine them with a Scandinavian design flavour. My focus has and will always be to create products that can be used everyday, that are sturdy yet eye-catching and always a pleasure to use.

I am all about creating a range of handmade ceramic objects that have the resilience to be used everyday while looking so gorgeous you want to save it for wow-ing your in-laws or dinner guests.



Within these last 5 years I’ve spent my creative time at a local art centre in a transient sort of way. That’s code for, ‘I didn’t have a studio space’ and spent more than two hours each time setting up and packing down all my clay stuff.

Every. Single. Time.



Did I mention I like to accessorize and use a lot of equipment to create my ranges?

Because I am determined to make my dream of becoming a full time designer & ceramicist come true, I’ve been working hard to build a studio of my own. Its been a couple of years in planning and finally within the last couple of weeks the construction of the studio has started! My studio a.k.a giant shed has just started being fitted out and while it’s a work in progress it sure beats working in the open air in the ever so freezing 3 degree weather or pouring rain!



So, why am I creating a pozible project? Here’s the thing, there’s no power (as yet) to and in the studio. This means I’m limited to daylight hours (on the weekend) or working in the open air during the week at night, plus my fabulous little kiln can’t be turned on. What’s the impact of no power to me and my making? No power equals me being limited to working in daylight hours and having to transport my fragile ceramic ware to the local art centre to get them fired all the while contending with broken pieces while in transit. It also means, I have to contend with firings being cancelled on me ,this happens on a regular basis. This in turn leads to a longer wait time for my products being able to be produced.



It’s a vicious cycle, which I hope with your help lovely people it can finally end! These drama-ramas are driving me b-a-n-a-n-a-s. To run electricity to my studio and have 3 phase power installed will cost close to $4000. I know, crazy right? But think of the pretties.

In order to be able to continue to create and produce my porcelain range I need to raise capital (which we all know is code for dollars) to pay for the electrician’s bill and I’d really love your help to get the lights turned on, and the creative party started! I have set my target of $4000 - this will cover the cost of the electrician and a portion for ceramic materials to create your reward goodies.

Lets look at the Pros cause there aren't any Cons in this Pozible project!

I’ve always been a self-sufficient type of gal but there comes a time when you have to step up ask for help. This is me asking for help. I, with your help would like to turn on all the lights on in my studio. In doing this, I can finally take my products ‘out to the world’ and work on my world domination plan, I mean, ‘let others discover my porcelain pretties’.

In being unable to raise the funds to pay the electrican I will struggle to create and produce the volume of products that are being demanded of my range. Creating a ceramic object is a costly art practice and while I will continue on to produce how I have this past year I fear that the opportunities coming my way will have to be passed over as I'm unable to meet their product delivery demands.
