WHAT IS PHENOMENON?
Phenomenon will be the debut show for The Very Good Looking Initiative at the 2015 Melbourne Fringe Festival.
"Four people walk into a room. They strike up a conversation. One of them notices a strange object in the room. ‘Is that yours?’ asks the girl suspiciously. ‘No’ replies the young man with a look of worry… Something bad is about to happen.
A parody of heightened breakdowns and turmoil in this chaotic theatre experience, Phenomenon celebrates how absurd we are as humans."
Phenomenon explores paranoia and how it can change a rational human being into an irrational human being. This is a product of the world we live in where we have places to be, people to see, people to avoid and there's always money to made. All around us we're made to feel unsafe with constant reminders that bad things could happen like "In the case of an emergency..." and "If you see anything suspicious, report it." So what happens when four strangers are put into a heightened situation and how do they come out of it?
The Very Good Looking Initiative are inspired by human behaviour. Do you ever just sit on a bench or in the train and observe people? Why is that person being rude and impatient? What are they thinking when they're looking at me? Why is that man crying? What is going on in their mind? What makes them behave the way they do?
We'll never truly understand. So lets explore it.
By supporting our Pozible campaign you would not only be helping us with our debut show Phenomenon but also getting The Very Good Looking Initiative up and running. We are a group that want to collaborate with a wide range of people from different artistic backgrounds while also exploring different styles of performance. And with your help we can make this possible!

The Very Good Looking Initiative are a group of performers who enjoy making bizarre, surreal work based on human behaviour.
We cover different genres of work from theatre, comedy, street performance, skits and short videos.
And most of all we just want to be VERY GOOD LOOKING.
So far we are only small, but our drive is to collect a range of collaborators along the way and build a network of diverse minds covering all mediums.

The Challenges
Because we are new and this is our debut show, we are expecting to face the challenge of reaching a new audience.
To help this we will be utilising the donations to focus on promotion and branching out to a larger audience rather than just family and friends. This is done through posters, flyers, social media and unique promotional packages which are things that quietly add up.
