PlayHardstyle Radio has been broadcasting live shows online from around Australia every week for almost 2 years. During this time we have hosted more than 40 different live dj’s from Hard House To Hardcore, QLD to WA and even the UK. The site is not for profit but the server expenses are funded both privately and with donations from the community. Most of the expenses can be covered each month however it is a drain on innovation and expansion of the sites unique tools.

Having our own video server will allow us to remove the monthly cost of hosting out our current video stream which accounts for 30% of our recurring expense. Features:

Reliability – Unlike our current live stream video that changes server details once a month (which is a pain for dj’s), a self hosted video will mean a reliable fixed server location without the hassle.

Cross-Platform – The new video stream will be supported on Android, Apple and Windows products.

Possible live video event streams - If you are an avid PlayHardstyle listener you would know that we were able to live stream the entire WinterBass 2012 event from Asylum and Mayhem through our online radio and chat room (over 8 hours worth). Depending on the availability of a good network we may just be able to live Video stream future events right to your PC, Phone or TV (Now that’s worth $2).

Live Time Shifting– With a DVR or virtual DVR set up listeners will be able to control the live streams with pause and seek backwards, instant replay, or play from start.

One encode for all devices–DJ’s will be able to publish live video and then let the server optimize the stream for multiple devices with adaptive bitrate support. Future App Support – It is well known in the PlayHardstyle community that an App is in development. With this video server the app will have full video support. Something we need for a fully functional service.
