Hahndorf Town Band is a Brass band located within the Adelaide hills of South Australia. We have been established for 88 years, and have been performing Musikfest for many years now (from the mid 1970’s). In previous years our shows have been very basic and based on music theme, these were some of the themes that were performed: “The 70’s” and “Pirates of the Cabaret.”

Last year’s performance of “Pirates of the Cabaret” was the first year where a group of members put aside their own time and created an atmosphere for the audience and the band. With decorations on the walls and tables that were appropriate for the theme, this was carried out with the theme of music and story line putting on a musical performance.

As a band we are always welcoming new members and players to join our band. The current plans for the year consist of multiple performances, further rehearsals and becoming a competitive brass band. To achieve these goals we rely on our performances to engage with our local and wider community to show our development; Musikfest gives us a chance to showcase our works.

Musikfest being a major performance, we would like to dress this evening up with style and glamor. With not only just the band being the show, but also incorporating the audience from when they walk in through the main doors to seeing the band on stage. With last year’s introduction to incorporating this theme we received a positive vibes from the audience, who wanted to see more of this in the following shows.

With your support we would like to put these funds towards our decorations and props that will be used throughout the show. We have got in contact with our local primary school that is willing to support us in constructing these items.
Our theme this year is “Once upon a time.” Our committee has sat down and discussed the features of the show, plus also what our “key” items would be. We have designed a forest, castle and a night time back drop which we would like to create.

The funds raised will be used towards getting decorations, art supplies and appropriate materials to construct our performance props. Our current pledge is for our minimum target which will provide the essentials to get started with, but if we can raise above this target we would like to create our dream show, to highly promote, decorate, and provide a night that no one will ever forget.
