You have the chance to help advance mathematics in Australia by helping to send me to two international workshops in October at the Erwin Schrödinger International Institute for Mathematical Physics at the University of Vienna in Austria.

I was orginally invited to these workshops two years ago, and my invitation is a form of recognition that my work in this area of mathematics has international significance. In fact, most of the attendees are well known in this field. I intend to give a talk in at least the first of these two workshops, and to write at least one mathematical paper as an outcome.

My invitation covers my accommodation costs, but does not cover transport. Unfortunately, I can't afford the airfare to Vienna.

My attendance at these workshops will help me to continue my career in mathematics, and I want to give back to the Australian community by helping to train the next generation in mathematics, by both teaching at university, and by visiting secondary colleges,

How The Funds Will Be Used

I need to raise $2000. STA Travel has given me a quote for $2023 as the cheapest "teacher rate" return airfare between Sydney and Vienna (with Emirates). The $2000 will compensate me for having paid the airfare in advance.

The Challenges

If I can raise the airfare, I intend to go to the workshops. The two obstacles I see are:
(1) I might gain employment before October, but then not be able to arrange time away from work to attend the workshops. In this case, I would pay back all of your contributions straight away.
(2) I might not gain employment before October, run out of money to pay my rent, and have to change my living arrangements during the time when I should be at the workshops. In this case, I would pay back all of your contributions, once I was able to.

Acknowledgement!

You have my gratitude and your initials will appear in the acknowledgement slide of my talk!
