Support Geoffrey on BalletLab Tour
This incredibly valuable learning curve for Geoffrey affords the opportunity to embody the pre-existing, highly crafted choreography from one of Australia's premier dance makers, Phillip Adams. Geoffrey will perform alongside highly skilled dancers and present to international audiences.
This is a brilliant opportunity for one of Melbourne's independent dance artists to refine and showcase his craft.

About Aviary
Les Oiseauxs en cage // Le coq dandy // Paradis
Aviary premiered at the Melbourne International Arts Festival in 2011 and presented at MONA FOMA in 2012 to critical acclaim. Now after much anticipation we are showcasing this incredible collaboration - featuring the work of renowned fashion designer Toni Maticevski, milliner Richard Nylon and the divine dancers - to international audiences.
Aviary is a romantic, exotic and visual art-based contemporary dance performance that pays homage to the spectacle of the bird. Aviary a suite of experimental articulations based on French composer Olivier Messiaen's Catalogue d'Oiseaux, written in the 1950s. These musical scores for the bird are interpreted through classical, modern, and contemporary idioms staged in a flamboyant rethink of paradise.
The suite arrangement implies a non-linking narrative structure. The scores are translated into different social, cultural and chronological locations: a contemporary experimental dance improvisation, a 1980's erotic disco floor, and a jungle in New Guinea.
Aviary was developed by BalletLab in association with The Australian Ballet. Only from the imaginings of choreographer Phillip Adams could this fantasia of contemporary movement and exotic birdlife set against the avian-inspired 20th Century idiom of French composer, Oliver Messiaen's ‘Catalogue d'Oiseaux (1958) come forth.
Phillip Adams BalletLab was announced as the Winner of the 2012 Green Room Award for Dance Design. This award was received for outstanding collaborative work with Toni Maticevski (Costumes), Richard Nylon (Millinery), Matthew Bird (Nest Design and Backdrop), Gavin Brown (Curtain Design) and Benjamin Cisterne (Lighting) for Aviary, which premiered at Melbourne Festival 2011 and was a highlight of MONA FOMA 2012.
Aviary will present internationally on September 26th 2014 at the esteemed Teo Ottto Theatre in Remscheid, Germany.
