ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Second Coming is a unique Australian feature film production: an apocalyptic modern noir. From the award-winning producers of Sundance hit, WISH YOU WERE HERE.
SYNOPSIS
Joe Panther is pissed off as all hell. He believes he’s been alive for two thousand years, is still thirty-three and rivers of blood have been spilled in his name. When he wakes in an alleyway next to Gina Compton’s dead body he becomes the prime suspect in a murder investigation. To save himself, Joe must outplay the draconian laws of a corrupt dystopian society, survive a dangerous cult leader, appease the dead girl’s jilted lover and uncover who the real killer is.
THE FILM
THE SECOND COMING is a film adaptation of the award-winning novel of the same title by acclaimed author Andrew Masterson. The film is being produced by Angie Fielder of Aquarius Films (WISH YOU WERE HERE starring Joel Edgerton). The screenplay is written by exciting new talent David Barker, who will also direct the film.

The story follows the shambolic life of mysterious, audacious, despicable yet somehow extremely likeable character Joe Panther – a rebellious prophet who lives by his own code. Set in a fictional world where draconian laws and corruption are ever-present as the fog that engulfs the city, The Second Coming is provocative, blasphemous, bold and original. It challenges religion and the church while providing a riotous, gripping ride via a classic murder-mystery into the seedy underbelly of Joe Panther’s world.
We’re aiming to start production in early 2013, BUT - in order to do that we need your support. We have some great investors willing to support us, and we are VERY CLOSE to having the funds that we need to make the film. BUT, we are still a little short, and that's why we need your help.
We need to raise the final $200,000 of our budget, to push the project into production. If 2,000 of you were to pledge $100 each, we'd hit this dream target!
We’ve set our Pozible goal at $75,000 because we want to make sure we reach it (if we don't hit our Pozible goal, we don't get any money!). BUT we don't want the pledging to stop there! Even if we reach $75,000, people can still pledge more to help us reach our dream target (and still reap their rewards!). We really need $200K to effectively create the apocalyptic, dystopian world that Joe Panther inhabits, and in which this Noir mystery unfolds.

- A 1 hour consultation with either Angie Fielder (Syd) OR Polly Staniford (Melb) OR a Skype call with one of us if you’re interstate – ask us questions, tell us about your film idea, quiz us about tips and tricks of the film industry.
- 1 page of written feedback from David Barker on either your short film OR screenplay (max duration for film or screenplay - 15 mins)
- The opportunity to do ALL of the following:
* Come on set of The Second Coming shoot for a few hours – we will show you around, explain who’s who and take a photo of you with the director
* Come to a test screening mid-edit of the film and provide your creative feedbacK
* Come into the grade of the film for a half day and give creative feedback

THE BOOK
The Second Coming is the second book of a trilogy. The first book, ‘The Last Days: the Apocryphon of Joe Panther’ was also published to great praise. Both books picked up Ned Kelly Awards for Crime Fiction in Australia, and both were published in the UK and Europe. The third is currently being written.

David Barker is an international award-winning director of drama, TV commercials and music videos; he has worked with some of the biggest bands and brands in Australia including Powderfinger, Resin Dogs, Regurgitator, Butterfingers and Stonefield. Angie Fielder has produced award-winning films that have screened in high profile film festivals internationally. Her feature film Wish You Were Here, directed by Blue-Tongue Films’ Kieran Darcy-Smith and starring rising Hollywood star Joel Edgerton, screened on opening night at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival in the prestigious World Cinema Dramatic competition. It was released theatrically by Hopscotch Films in Australia in April, and will be released in cinemas in the United States and Canada in 2013. Angie's short films Crossbow (David Michod), I Love Sarah Jane (Spencer Susser) and Netherland Dwarf (David Michod) all screened at Sundance and other high profile festivals including Berlin, Venice and Telluride. CO-PRODUCER – POLLY STANIFORD
Polly Staniford is an award-winning filmmaker of over 10 short films that have screened in high profile film festivals all over the world including Venice, Berlin and Sundance. All of Polly’s films have sold internationally and in addition to her short film credits she has worked in many areas of the Film and Television industry for a variety of companies including Fremantle Media and Inside Film. She spent 2 years as an in-house producer at Matchbox Pictures before co-founding production company Aquarius Films with business partner Angie Fielder. Their shorts have been invited to Sundance, Venice, Berlin, Edinburgh and Telluride film festivals among many others, picked up multiple awards including an AFI (Australian Film Institute Award) and all of them have sold internationally.
Angie and Polly have produced and production managed over 30 hours of television for a variety of networks including SBS, ABC, Discovery Channel and the Nine Network. They are currently developing on a large slate of long form projects.
