Poor House Press

Poor House Press is a public relations company based in Melbourne, Australia supporting local music at a lower cost. Poor House Press was created after years of slaving away for “the man” and ripping off bands. Spending day in and day out trying to help out bands that just couldn’t afford it Poor House Press decided to create an organisation that was about the bands and not about the money.

Currently working casual jobs in retail and hospitality, battling for shifts to make sure the rent is paid Poor House Press and happily charging rates significantly lower than most and have a wide range of band merch that seemed, at the time, to be a good substitute for money.

Now the harsh reality of life has hit us we have realised that money (not merch or music) makes the world go around and we can’t pay for business expenses (rent and internet) with nothing. So we are having a party and a fundraiser to really kick finances in the butt and get things running smoothly.

The more money we raise the bigger the party we can have, we don’t want to organise this and have bands play for nothing. That’s not what Poor House is about. We want to party with a four band line up, in a venue that we have to turn people away from and really get the word out about Poor House and the bands who play. This is all about setting up to support local music.
