The Suburbs Go On Forever is my final short film for my undergraduate studies at The Victorian College of the Arts. It is a film that has consumed most of my life for the past year and the first film that I have truly been proud of. It has been an amazing experience from writing the first draft, to the long days and nights on set with the amazing cast and crew, to seeing the words i have written come to life on the screen in the edit suite. We're so close to finishing the film but to make sure we can complete it at the highest standard we need some help from you. With the help from this pozible campaign, we will be able to finish a film that I and many others been so passionately connected to and ensure that it has the best possibility to screen in festivals around the world.

Mark Day - Writer // Director

Synopsis

'The Suburbs Go On Forever' is a short film about Felicity, a university student, who undertakes a journey of self-discovery through a complex affair with her professor.

The film explores the many sides of desire, and the facades people put up to suppress or enact upon them.

Mr Parker, a university professor with the desire to seduce one of his students. A verbose and charming man who is consumed by the withdrawn romantic ideas of his poetic idols.

Mrs Parker, an ageing beauty obsessed with control, willing to let her husband enact upon his desires as long as he keeps up the facade of the perfect suburban family.

And their flirtatious daughter Laura, who is perfectly aware of her parent's activities and as a reaction uses her charm to gain the attention that they neglect.

The film follows Felicity as she drifts through a party held at the Parker's suburban mansion. Here she is confronted by her desires for Mr Parker and must discover whether enacting them will lead to fulfilment or tether an already distraught family.

Behind The Scenes

How The Funds Will Be Used

The money we raise from this campaign will go into getting a professional sound mix and into marketing and distribution for the film.

We are incredibly happy with how the picture is looking and we want to complete our project at the highest standard possible so we're going to Music and Effects, an award winning, sound post production studio in Melbourne to get a professional 5.1 surround sound mix.

The rest of the funds will go into promoting the film and sending across the world to as many film festivals as we can. We're already developing our strategy for submitting 'The Suburbs Go On Forever' to festivals and hope to send it to over 100 festivals in 2015.
