We all have a mate like Sam or Phoebe. Always getting by, you don’t really know what they do for a living, but are always living it up! Great people with hearts of gold – they are the essential Aussie, always up for a drink, a laugh and a cry. Until one of them goes to jail.
“A Girl’s Best Friend” is a tale of two best friends, separated by the legal system after a misadventure. One year on, they are reunited but can they get along now that so much has changed? And has it changed that much?
This 10 minute comedy will explore female relationships as never before – in real life! No flower arranging or breakfast catch ups; these ladies are living with the consequences of their actions and getting on with life, until one of them stuffs up. The style is a cross between Broad City and Cougar Town with a touch of bogan; a la Kath and Kim.

How The Funds Will Be Used
A short film isn’t something we’ll make a lot of money on, and our dedicated cast and crew are literally working for peanuts! We are betting ourselves on this film and so we need a little bit of help for making sure we deliver a high quality product that everyone can be proud of!
- Insurance – because we don’t want to leave town in the middle of the night if something goes down. (Jk!)
- Food! We can’t let our cast and crew go hungry when they are so valuable to the project!
- Equipment hire. We have most of what we need, but there are a few things we want.
- Transport. Some of our cast and crew must travel to and from location daily so we’d love to give them some petrol money or bus fare!
- Post production. So that you don’t have to sit though tinny sound and rabid cuts made on Windows Movie Maker. (GASP)

The Challenges
As we have a tight schedule for the 2016 festival line up, our biggest challenge is getting post finished on time! We have a timeline starting on the 15th March, so ideally we'd have all our ducks in a row by then. Organising pre-production over Christmas and New Years was tough, but our team is so dedicated, we got through it! Now we just need a bit of a push to get the loose ends tied up, as we are essentially a self-funded short.
