Hey everyone my name is Ellen Champion. I'm a 16 year old aspiring Aboriginal model. I'm from sunny Perth, Western Australia. I am a Wirrangu, Kookatha, Kaprun, Ngadju girl from Southern and Western Australia. Although this is my ancestor's traditional country, I was actually born in Tamworth NSW.

I've been accepted as a finalist to represent Western Australia at the 13th Miss Teen Australia 2017, in Cairns January 13th - 15th. I am ecstatic and so excited to achieve this. This is a dream come true! 

I want to win this competition because my dream is to become another one of Australia's super models and be a positive role model for my peers and Australian community as a whole. In particular I want to represent Aboriginal Australia to show other Aboriginal girls that if I can do it, so can you!

I've got less than two weeks to raise the funds to get myself to Cairns for the competition! This project is to enable me to get there and represent WA.

Ellen Champion hails from Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. To get Ellen to Miss Teen Australia, funds are needed for:

1. Flight Perth to Cairns return $850

2. Accommodation 5 nights @$220 a night $1,100

3. Meals and taxi fares   $550

4. outfits for the shows $1,000

The challenges Ellen faces are those typical to any teenager looking to enter the modelling and fashion field- getting the right contacts, getting known, proving herself and getting out there in the right kind of media. Ellen needs to get to the eastern states and make her self known as WA is isolated in the modelling industry.

However, for an Aboriginal girl, the challenge is just that bit more heart-felt. Ellen carries with her the hopes of her family and the wider Aboriginal community that she can be a role-model for other young Aboriginal girls following in her footsteps. It's time for Ellen to enter the national stage and show that she's equal to the challenge!
