Waiting for Rain
How did she get there?
A mysterious stockman, an estranged husband and a dead child intertwine to reveal the true nature of her reality...

WAITING FOR RAIN is a short film inspired by an incident that happened while our director Andy was working as a stockman in North West QLD. A woman broke down on a remote road, left her car and was found dead three days later.
Our compelling, unique script has attracted the interest of an amazing team of creatives, including
- Acclaimed cinematographer Zoe White (The Afterlight)
- Veteran Indigenous actor Tom E Lewis (Red Hill)
- US composer John Atkinson
Both Andy and I grew up in the country, we are passionate about this story, and we feel we can capture an authenticity that is unique to Australian cinema.
Apart from being a highly ambitious project and a great platform professionally for those involved ( a screening at an international festival is our goal!) we hope WAITING FOR RAIN will be a fun experience for all those involved.
So join the adventure and support our campaign!
Thanks so much!
Romany Lee (producer) and Andy Carbone (writer/director)

The Challenges
And finally (the factor we cannot forget!) travelling and shooting outback is definitely a huge challenge. A large part of our budget will go into getting equipment, cast and crew out to the location. If we could shoot the film closer to the city it would be a lot cheaper, but that’s not the story Andy wrote and it’s not the story we want to tell.
