We are Whitaker.
We are an independent, Melbourne-based alternative/rock/pop/folk group that has, for the best part of a decade, been creating and releasing original music together. Over this time we have had several names that may be known to you. Now (and finally) we are Whitaker.
At its core, Whitaker is a trio formed by the dedicated talents of...
Ryan Meeking (Voice, Guitar, Piano)
Brett Scapin (Guitar)
and Simon Rabl (Bass).
In full flight, however, Whitaker expands to include other amazing Melbourne musicians including Nat Bartsch (Keys/Percussion) and Jeremy Hopkins (Drum Kit).
In 2012 Whitaker released its self-titled, debut LP. The album, recorded in Atlanta, GA with acclaimed producer Nick DiDia (Powderfinger, Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen) almost went unheard after complications with the band's then-label. Fortunately, the record was eventually given into the band's custody and was released almost two years after it was initially recorded.
After this release we kept ourselves busy gigging, writing and thinking about something new.
In July 2013 we began work on Wichita - a 5-track EP recorded in halls and awesome sounding spaces across Melbourne with good friend and incredible producer Jonathan Steer (Ainslie Wills, The Tealeaves, Haarlo).
To us, Wichita is the embodiment of our sound. It is joyous, patient, thoughtful, raw and intense. We made it under our own steam and we believe it to be our best work yet.
But now we need you...

The Challenges
The record is complete and ready to go. Our only obstacle now is obtaining the funds required to make it the success it deserves to be. Reaching our Pozible fundraising goal will help us overcome this obstacle and ensure the Wichita EP makes its way to ears (and the right ears at that) around the world.
