Designer Eyewear without Designer Price

We started Urk Eyewear because we were sick of paying high prices for eyewear. This seemed like an everday necessity that consumers were being overcharged for. After a little research we realized that a company named Luxxotica has basically monopolized the marketplace. Through leveraged incentives, high price points and company acquisitions they control just about everything in the eyewear industry. Urk Eyewear was born.

Urk Eyewear is trying to do something unique while keeping the consumer base at the forefront of all of our business decisions. We are trying to work with everyday people to bring the cost of their designer eyewear down. We have worked very hard to reach this goal. To ensure our consumers that we are fully vested in this project we have taken the time to accomplish the following:

Contract a local optics company to fill our prescriptions

Source a manufacturer

Frames made from Italian Acetate - same product used in designer eyewear

Stainless steel hinges - durability and flexibility

CR-39 Lenses - scratch resistant coating and commonly used to fill prescriptions

 

Why We Need Your Help

We currently have designs ready to be put into production. These designs are fashionable and trendy, but at the same time we have something for everyone. We want to reach all demographics. As mentioned in our video, there will be two lines at our initial launch, The Professional Line and The Street Life Line. Your contributions will allow us to create our product, maintain sufficient inventory, and design our website. We can't thank you enough for any contribution you make to our cause.

 

An Intimate Process

Urk Eyewear believes in doing things the right way. We want to provide you with a product that is fashionable but durable. Our manufacturer has supplied us with some photos that shows you how intimate this process can truly be. Although the frames are mass produced there is a lot more that happens behind closed doors. Being able to perfectly sculpt, smooth and shave the final product takes time. Every frame has a portion of its design handcrafted made specifically for you. Below is a picture provided from our manufacturer of an employee going through that process.

Frames and Color Schemes

Once we determine the final designs, we will offer between three and five different color schemes for every frame selected. There are no restricitions on colors. Our manufacturer has assured us that we can come up with the craziest combinations and they will be able to manufacture it. Below is a catalog preview of some of the colors.
