THE UPDATE

Thank you everyone who has pledged. Thanks to you we have not only reached our goal but exceeded it ... in 6 days. Incredible! So what now?
We want to go further...
Principal photography has finished and it looks great. Really great. Our actors gave it their all and our crew were unstoppable (and a good many things tried to stop them). But now it's time for post production. Editing, grading, sound, credits (which many of you will be included in) and music are still to come, not to mention the publicity and promotion side of things. We want to enter The Cookie Crumbles in festivals and competitions around the world and show them how good Western Australian talent is.
So if you haven't pledged, please do, and if you have, thanks. You can do more by sharing the link www.pozible.com/cookie and encouraging friends to be as cool as you are and support this project.
You guys ROCK!!
And you are really going to enjoy the film you are supporting. Thanks again!
PS. if you haven't eaten a Tim Tam in a while, do it!

THE FILM

Two women...one tough cookie

The Cookie Crumbles is a short film about friendship, etiquette and what happens when you cross the line for a Tim Tam (chocolate covered cookie, for those from out o' town)

This is the story of Jessica, a woman who has spent her life being good and polite and is never the one to push the envelope or buck the system. But when Shay, her hippy Pilates friend, drops by in a flurry of scarves and bad mood things get awkward. The Tim Tams are disappearing almost as fast as Jessica's legendary patience and it's only a matter of time before one of them snaps.

THE BUDGET

An oily rag.

The script is written, the camera is booked, the cast are in training and the crew is assembled. Even the location and dog are locked in. Now we just need to pay for it, and this is where you come in. This film is going ahead but with your help we can pay our invoices, make it look great and get out to a heap of festivals. Every cent counts and goes straight into making this film the best it can be.

We have secured funding through FTI (the Film and Television Institute) which gives enough money to hire the camera (Red Epic) and pay for insurance and catering, what we are asking for is help with funding all the rest. Everything can be done on a shoe string budget but we would like this film to be sound recorded, colour graded and edited well not to mention we would quite like to pay the actors and crew.

WORDS FROM THE DIRECTOR

The Cookie Crumbles is a project dear to my heart. It speaks to me of the constant struggle of politeness that everybody faces. Mostly we play by the rules and we give in to the social norms.

How hard is it to hold the elevator for someone? Or let them cut in front of you at the checkout because they have a small child? But don’t we all dream of occasionally turning to that person and saying “screw you, if you wanted this lift you shouldn’t be so bloody slow.” But we don’t do we? Well what if we did?

I discovered, at a very early age, a joyous loophole in societal politeness. Most people are too polite to eat the last cookie. Everybody leaves it for someone else. I figured this out and I’ve been exploiting it every since. I’m the guy who eats the last biscuit. I’ve never met another last biscuit guy, but if I did I’m sure I would politely let them have it. That’s the reality. I want to make the story of what happens when people don’t politely acquiesce. What happens when society falls down and we fight over the last Tim Tam. It’s bloody, it’s raw and it’s hilarious.

This project combines technical film making with challenging roles for actors and an editors wet dream/nightmare. It’s going to be a lot of work for all those involved but the blood, sweat and Red Bull will undoubtedly result in a great short film.

Please consider being a part of a female character based comedy action film that highlights the talent that local independent film makers have in abundance and want to share with the rest of the world.

Pledge now and consider yourself part of the film industry.

cheers Sam Longley
