Cross Pollinate Productions, founded by Samantha Ward and Michael Wood, is a collaborative community of artists who are here to make quality, innovative, and thematically enduring work. Our mission is to create a platform and a community where theatregoers and non-theatregoers are challenged, changed, and empowered.

Our first production is Crazy Brave by Michael Gurr as part of Sydney Fringe 2015!

"Has the world ignited yet? Has everything changed? Is it all very different now?"

Alice, Paul and Deborah, a desperate group with no faith in mainstream politics, have embarked on a program of urban disruption. Their guerrilla tactics create havoc within the well-oiled machine of the city. When Jim Morgan, a legendary activist from up North, becomes interested in the group, they face the prospect of taking their actions to a new level of danger. Ever brave, do they have what it takes to become Crazy Brave? This is a fiercely passionate story about the collision between great ideals and human frailty and asks you just how far would you go to take a stand. It is told with dizzying momentum and piercing wit by the winner of four major literary awards.

This production has been 2 years in the making and we are incredibly excited to be bringing a play like this to Sydney, especially given the current political climate both in Australia, and internationally. Every day people are asking themselves, "How far would I go to be heard, to have my say, to honour my beliefs?" But how brave are you, really?

We wanted to ensure that we created a very unique theatrical experience for our audiences. We were not interested in using a traditional theatre venue and so we searched for a space which would allow the audience to be invited in to the world that these characters exist in. We will be creating a pop-up theatre inside a secret warehouse in the heart of the city, exact location will be revealed...

Crowd funding is a great way to support the people and projects you want to see come in to fruition. All the artists involved are donating their time and expertise so all funds raised will go towards the production. The costs associated with the show include venue hire, costume, props, rehearsal spaces, and marketing, just to name a few!  If we reach our goal, any extra money will go directly to the artists through a co-operative agreement. 

Here is a snapshot of how the funds raised through this campaign will be used. Your contribution will make this show possible!

The biggest challenge is raising the money needed to make the show happen, and then having people come and see it!

We've been working tirelessly to fundraise money through different avenues and with the help of our Pozible donators we'll be right on track. Part of the total money raised from these endeavours will go towards marketing the show to make sure that there's plenty of people there each night to see this great Australian play made possible by a team of incredibly dedicated, hard working artists.
