Rewriting myths and celebrating the mundane nature of suburban Australia, THE FIFTH HORSEMAN is an episodic comedy providing insight into the aftermath surrounding the adoption of a dead cat into the lives of Avon salesmen, Gavin and Ripley. Relying on unmastered door-to-door retail techniques as a desperate means of income, tensions fluctuate between the two cosmetics salesmen as Gavin commits to his claim that the feline’s corpse is a prophet. The skies turn to fire, hearts fill with despair, the horizon falls to darkness and the apocalypse is nigh – in suburban Australia.
Playfully exploiting performative conventions and stylistic characteristics of the Australian Gothic, this fresh absurd comedy of new writing has recently won over festival audiences at Vena Cava Productions' FRESH BLOOD FESTIVAL and the FESTIVAL OF AUSTRALIAN STUDENT THEATRE during 2014 with a ripper local team of emerging artists.

How The Funds Will Be Used
We are hoping to raise a small portion of the total to help alleviate the cost that are team are covering. We are not out to make money - we will actually lose money on this - but we agree it's exciting, important and very worthwhile for us to take the show and give our artists a chance to showcase their talent interstate.
The $550 we are hoping to raise will cover the Venue Hire and a part of the Registration Fee. Outside that, the design, set, flights, accommodation will all be covered by us. We are treating this as an adventure where we happen to perform too!

The Challenges
We're venturing to a strange new land in Adelaide, away from our native Brisbane. It's an adventure into the unknown, where we are unfortunately unknown ourselves. We might not get a crowd to see this show despite having a hilarious & enjoyable show. We're not fussed about making money (we have a low budget and goal to go through) but we want to make sure we're able to be seen.
We're doing our best at making the trip down early to flyer the streets and paint the town blue with our collateral, offering free tickets to artist & reviewers, and cheap tickets to the public to raise awareness and spread talk on the show.
