My passion to start a picnic catering business was born out of the love for park hangs with my dog Jesse, enjoying sunshine and sharing delicious food with friends. With a clear vision of the ultimate picnic in mind, I've set about to create the best experience. My friends think they got the best deal out of this but all those free picnics with an array of cheeses and cured meats to try was liquid gold for my testing phase! 

The ideal picnic to me is less about sandwiches and more about delectable grazing plates with matching wines.  Its about artisan cheeses, cured meats and fresh fruits, a comfortable and appealing setting that includes large picnic blankets, comfy pillows and vintage picnic games.

How it works

What's the biz? Dropping off a picnic basket? Not even close. It's providing the entire experience. Picture this: you want to surprise your partner or host a gathering with friends. The idea of a picnic is so simple but the reality of executing it is more work than you're prepared for. Customers can visit  Melbourne Picnic Packages, browse the packages available and follow their taste buds! Each standard package includes a full picnic set up that caters for two. Catering for extra people is easy, you just add additional people in the booking process. Each package includes a picnic basket that contains cutlery, cheese knives, pâté knives, plates, spoons, wine glasses, napkins and a picnic rug. It also comes with a choice of vintage games for some social fun and portable speakers to enjoy some tunes. The picnic is set up at a sweet spot in Princes Park, Carlton and on the day of your booking, customers are sent a dropped pin via text message so that you can easily locate it. All you have to do is arrive, eat and enjoy. The booking lasts for 2 hours. At the end of the booking, I come back to see how it went and pack it up for you!

I have been carefully planning, acquiring picnic equipment and sharing my thoughts and ideas with my friends over last 6 months to be ready for launch day this Spring. I plan to deliver picnics to Princes Park with a (fully sick) cargo bike carrying all of the picnic supplies and furnishings.  I have purchased a second-hand Bakfiet cargo bike but it needs a little work! I plan to get it resprayed, fitted with a new seat and hand grips as well as some beautiful signage artwork on the box. The super talented folks at Commuter Cycles in Brunswick are going to do the job and have quoted  $2000. It's a lot of work disassembling and reassembling a cargo bike apparently!

Outstanding is also my food registration fee of $228 and a renewable limited liquor licence of $450.

A successful campaign enables Melbourne Picnic Packages to have a great launch into its first Spring and ample visiblity over social media. I would be very grateful if you could share this campaign :)

The only realistic challenges that I can forsee is bad weather on your booking day. If it's looking like it's going to be miserable on the day of your picnic booking, then you can simply book another available date or alternatively, I can host the picnic at your house if it's within a 5km radius of Brunswick.

An unrealistic challenge is me breaking my right arm and my right leg. If this situation I'll get some hired help.
