Help A Donkey and a Parrot journey to Edinburgh!
Another little update...
Thank you to the 72 awesome people who have pledged so far. I am completely overwhelmed by your support and generosity. The barrel is winging it's way to London as I write this! You have helped to make this happen.
The final cost for moving Monsieur Barrel from Melb-London-Edinburgh and back again came to $4,177.50 (including it's own passport!).
Further pledges are very welcome and would be put towards covering barrel's travel expenses and paying a lighting operator.
Every little bit helps.
Thank you!
A little update
Thanks to 58 incredible Pozible pledgers I have raised enough money to transport my set - a modified wine barrel - all the way to Edinburgh and back again! Thank you so much for helping me to reach my Pozible target. I am completely blown away by your generosity and support.
My $3000 target is actually only a small part (one sixth) of the overall budget for this big adventure.
I would love to raise some Pozible funds to cover the cost of having a lighting operator.
For every show (there are 25 of them) I will need to pay
$30 for a lighting operator. This adds up to $750. I’d love your support to help light up the
stage!
Love Sarah x

The Project
In August this year I will be performing my one woman play, A Donkey and a
Parrot, at the Edinburgh Fringe!
A Donkey and a Parrot was developed in 2011. I worked with director, Justine Campbell, to
create this piece of theatre from a compelling story which has been passed down
in my family for over 300 years. This is a play about the significance of
personal stories, identity and belonging; it explores how a story evolves over
time and alters in the retelling. The
play celebrates the survival and resilience of those who are forced to flee
their own country and seek refuge in another.
A Donkey and a Parrot debuted at the Melbourne Fringe 2011 as part of
the Hub Program. It travelled to Adelaide Fringe in March 2012 where it played
at Tuxedo Cat. The production has received critical acclaim including a five
star review in The Adelaide Magazine which described it as
‘jaw-dropping theatre’ and said ‘if there’s one thing you see during
this year’s Adelaide Fringe, this should be it’. FringeReview UK
called it 'quirky, witty and charismatic'.
Taking the show to Edinburgh Fringe in
August 2012 will provide me with invaluable opportunities to network and show my
work to a global audience. The Edinburgh Fringe is the biggest arts
festival in the world! I am incredibly excited about this opportunity.
Your support means the world to me.
