Hello world.
We have a secret.
Every week for five years, Secret Tuesdays have travelled up a rough mountain road to a little bush house, unpacked our banjo, guitar, piano, fiddle and saw, and sought solace in music, in the truth and friendship of each other's voices, in unbridled laughter, in whiskey and in wine. We tell each other stories - yarn upon yarn - and craft them into songs. Unafraid of the dark, we mingle tales of love and death with slapstick vignettes of drunken nights and getaway cars, to tell secrets tall and true, in voices sweet as country sunshine, dark as blood, sweat and liquor.
But these songs just don't want to be secrets anymore, so now we're going to capture them on an album, and hand them over to you.
So help us share the secret! Pre-order a cd and become a valued contributor to the production of this first full length album. Your pledge will go straight into the studio and help us make our art into an artifact that you can keep forever. If you really like the sound of us and our project, consider giving more - there are some excellent rewards which you can check out in the side-bar.
Our target for this campaign is $4000 - roughly half of the costs of producing our CD (you can see a breakdown of how the money will be spent below).
Your pledge (and order) will only be processed if we reach our target amount in the set time! Yep, we only get the money if we have reached $4k by the 1st of April, otherwise it never leaves your account, so -
please help us spread the word so we can share our Secret Tuesdays!
This is us:

L - R: Odette Gorman (banjo, vocals), Leah Kelly (keys, vocals), Trish Molloy (vocals, guitar/uke),
What we'll be doing
We are choosing our best tracks from five years worth of songwriting, and recording them with Mark Myers at the wonderful Big Sister Studios in Cairns in early April. The end result will be a heartfelt album mining rich traditions of folk, gypsy, shanties, country and blues - a sepia toned collection of gold nuggets and old bones.
Our original fiddle player Caitlin Pilkington will be joining us all the way from Victoria, as will another original band member, Cairns' favourite saw player Hools Fujita. The notorious Jen Fengler will be keeping us in the pocket with her brilliant percussion.
This is us at Black Mountain Unplugged with our fiddle player (Caitlin Pilkington) and saw player (Julia 'Hools' Fujita):

A little bit more about Secret Tuesdays

After a while of these kind of shenanigans the secret started getting out and people were asking us to play gigs, and before we knew it we were playing festivals and events and venues and parties.

We've built quite a collection of songs after all these years. For a good long while folks have been asking us: "Where do we get your CD?", so we are finally committing to capturing our songs on a recording. And that's where you come in :)
Pre-order now and help us bring you a sweet record of our journey as an all girl tea drinking heart singing phenomenon of quirky, home spun, wine dark sound.

Thank you so much for your support!
Some of our other work
You can hear a demo version of one of the songs pegged for the album - Ode to Odi - in the video above, and another one called Getaway Car here: https://soundcloud.com/secrettuesdays/sets/secret-...
Here's a little bit about the individual band members and other art we've made, with youtube/vimeos or soundcloud links highlighted:
Trish:
Trish Mo(lloy) made an ep a few years back with a little project called In The Wild Wood - follow that link to listen (and even download a copy if you like) on Bandcamp. Some of the songs on that album inspired or were inspired by some theatre collaborations with an independent company called The Kurandacoots. There's a sweet little video of some of that work here.
Trish also collaborates with performance poet extraordinaire mOzach in a project called faux mO - this link will take you to some of their sounds.
Trish has done a fair bit of theatre sound design and composition for a number of Kurandacoots productions, JUTE Theatre company, National Film and Sound Archives (Corrick Collection Big Screen Tours), and most recently a collaboration between Centre for Australasian Theatre, Zelda Da, and Kurandacoots called The Second Scream. These days she's mostly into making as much music as possible by whatever means are available, which usually means diy recordings of noir-ish compositions in her Walk-in-Wardrobe Studios with The Band Under the Stairs, the latest of which you can listen to here.
Leah:
Leah Kelly has for the past 20 years been a member of iconic Kuranda band Gudju Gudju, who are dedicated to the preservation and sharing of the Djabugay and Bulwai languages of the region. Bada Nywyal is one of Leah's own original language songs. Check out this performance of Gudju Gudju at the magical Kuranda Roots Festival.
Leah has performed with Gudju Gudju supporting Australian music heroes Archie Roach and Ruby Hunter, Shane Howard, Neil Murray and Don Walker.
When she's not making music and learning and sharing language, Leah creates stunning art of the wearable kind.
Odette:
Odie ran away from Fremantle to join the circus, crossed a continent to find it, and hula hooped her way into far north queensland where she collaborated on a number of Kurandacoots physical theatre productions, before finding love with a banjo, with whom she plucks dark tales of love and death and brings this whole appalachian trailer park vibe to the Secret Tuesdays.
How The Funds Will Be Used
Studio hire/ recording / mixing - $3600
Session players - $800
Mastering - $1000
CD / Booklet Graphic Design - $500
CD Replication and Booklet (on 100% recycled card stock) - $2000
We are contributing roughly half the costs from our own cash funds, and the huge amounts of time needed to attend to the infinite details that go into making an album.
If we exceed our target (!!) we'll be putting the money towards wider distribution and a tour (sadly not whiskey and wine because we have a treasurer now and have to have invoices and stuff).
