My name is Sheree.
I am a proud Wergaia woman of Mallee Victoria. I have stark blue sky and red earth in my bones. I am a mother of 6 children and a registered midwife. I support Aboriginal families during pregnancy, birth and the few months after bub is born.
This childrens book was created after seeing the gross misreprestation, underreprestation and ignorance around Aboriginal people today. We are far and few in between theatre, storybooks, movies and we often don't get lead parts.
I made this book because I want to see my culture respresented in childrens storybooks and also so that my kids and other Aboriginal kids can see themselves as the lead part in a story. I made this book because I want to share the magic and heart of our culture. It is ancient and beautful, full of beautiful star and earth beings and connection to Country.
Lets start sharing and let's start by sharing it with the younger generation of legends
"Rainbow and the Dreamtime Warriors is a imagintive and beautiful story about some cousins who go out playing together after staying at Nans house but they get lost. Rainbow and her cousins have to work together, remembering their Nans stories about sky maps, land marks and Dreamtime helpers, to find their way back to Nans place. It is a story imbued with Dreamtime , set in this current day. It is a story about connection, family, Country, working together and remembering your Ancestors stories"
