The Elephant and the Dog is a beautiful, heart-warming story of loss, friendship and redemption set in the Democratic Republic of Congo; and a fundraising initiative to help the people of this violent, war-ridden place.
Help us print 5000 copies and you’ll be helping to train 46 new doctors or 231 new nurses in the DRC.
The Mafunzo Project is a non-profit organisation that provides sponsorship to Congolese medical and nursing students. Because of war and political instability, the Congolese government does not provide any financial support to university students or their families. Empower local Congolese nurses and doctors, and help restore hope in the Congo.
We’d love your help to produce The Elephant and the Dog.
Each book will retail for $25, so we will be able to donate $125,000 to the Mafunzo Project. Imagine the difference this will make!
The book costs just $1.60 to produce, so if you donate just $32, you’re really giving $500 to The Mafunzo Project. Plus, 20 other people will have heard about the project through your donation. You’ll be helping others to help, which is exactly what The Mafunzo Project seeks to do in the Congo.
The Elephant and the Dog will be available at retail outlets throughout Australia; from Steve and Marion Isham's book stall at Salamanca Market, Hobart; from their website, bandicootbooks.com; and from The Mafunzo Project website, themafunzoproject.org.
